General admission requirements

In this section, you’ll find essential information about the types of studies and general admission requirements, as well as learn which level of studies you can apply for and what diploma you will receive upon graduation.
Bachelor’s studies

You can apply for bachelor’s degree programs if you:

  • Students currently in their final year of secondary school (12th grade)
  • Individuals who have already graduated from secondary school and hold a high school diploma
  • Students who have graduated from secondary school, enrolled in a higher education institution, but wish to change their field of study or institution
  • Students who already hold a bachelor’s degree and wish to obtain a bachelor’s degree in a different field

A bachelor’s degree is awarded after completing 3–4 years of study, depending on the country and program you choose.

The cost of a bachelor’s degree varies across European Union countries. You can find detailed information in the Finances section.

Top-up Studies

You can apply for top-up study programs if:

  • Students who already hold an AP degree and wish to obtain a bachelor’s degree.

To apply for a Top-up program, you need to have 120–180 ECTS credits, so make sure you have enough before applying. The studies you have completed or are currently pursuing must be in a similar field to the one you wish to enter, as admission is based on the compatibility of ECTS credits. Upon completing a Top-up program, you will receive a bachelor’s degree.

Master’s Studies

You can apply for Master’s degree programs if you:

  • Students who are in the final year of their Bachelor’s studies;
  • Students who already hold a Bachelor’s degree.

The duration and cost of Master’s studies vary across European Union countries. You can find detailed information about the length and cost of Master’s programmes in the Finances section.

Upon completing a Master’s programme, you will receive a Master’s degree, which qualifies you to apply for doctoral (PhD) studies.

Tuition-free Master’s studies

You can study for a Master’s degree tuition-free at universities in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Germany.

Foreign universities value you as an individual, so your desire to develop yourself in your chosen field, your personal qualities, and strong motivation will play a decisive role in the admission process.

Good to know: applying for bachelor’s studies abroad is generally easier than you might think!

The main thing to remember is that when applying to universities abroad, your grades often play a minor role, and final exam results are usually not considered. Universities value you as an individual, so your motivation to develop yourself in your chosen field and your personal qualities will play the most important role in the admission process.
