American Studies

How could the same country elect Obama and Trump? Why is American culture as creative and dynamic as it is? How can Americans be so proud of their diversity, but also conflicted about it? Sounds interesting? Then American Studies is perfect for you!
Something for you?
- An opportunity to study the United States as a dynamic, large and complicated country that at the same time has a tremendous influence on our world.
- A challenging academic specialization that brings together the study of politics, society, language, culture, literature and history.
- Full immersion in English, with a strong focus on language acquisition courses.
- An energetic international teaching staff.
- The opportunity to study abroad (in the United States) or do an internship.
During the American Studies Bachelor's program, you will learn about US culture, politics, literature, history, media and the structure of the English language. And, of course, you will learn to speak English at a professional level. With this goal in mind, all classes are taught entirely in English from the first day on and the program offers various language acquisition courses throughout the three years of the BA.
When you register for the Bachelor degree program in English Language and Culture, you indicate which specialization you wish to do: American Studies or English Language and Culture. When you choose American Studies, you will study American society and culture and you will learn American English. More information on the English Language and Culture specialization (which focuses on British literature and culture and British English) can be found on the English Language and Culture website.
