Finding your home in Aarhus
Great news: Aarhus municipality offers a housing guarantee for all new students starting in the autumn semester. This means you are guaranteed a student room through Student Housing Aarhus if you apply on time. Business Academy Aarhus does not have its own dormitories, but the city has an excellent student housing system that takes care of you.
Apply for housing as soon as you receive your admission confirmation - the earlier you register, the better your options. Aarhus is a compact, bike-friendly city where most student housing is within 30 minutes of campus.
Your main housing options
Option 1: Student Housing Aarhus - the main platform for affordable dormitory rooms across the city. Registration is free, and you can sign up even before your admission is confirmed. Rooms are allocated based on waiting list seniority, so register as early as possible. Use the Housing Guarantee for priority access.
Option 2: Basecamp by Xior - modern, fully furnished student apartments with a gym, cinema, and community events. More expensive than traditional dorms, but brand new and hassle-free (no waiting list - book online).
Option 3: Private market - you can also rent a room or apartment independently through websites like boligportal.dk or akutbolig.dk. Be careful of scams - never pay before viewing the room and signing a contract.
Rent and practical details
Typical monthly rent for a student room in Aarhus is 2,000-5,000 DKK depending on size, location, and whether it is furnished. You will need to pay a deposit (usually 1-3 months rent) before moving in. Most dormitory rooms are unfurnished, so budget for basic furniture or look for furnished options at Basecamp.
Remember: if you work at least 10-12 hours per week, you qualify for the Danish SU grant (approximately 7,426 DKK/month before tax), which easily covers rent and living expenses.
