Using technology and innovation to improve healthcare.

Do you want to know all about new health technologies, such as using smartphone monitoring data to improve medical diagnostics, or developing computer simulation models that can help to minimize waiting times? Are you curious about the impact of such new technologies and how they can best be deployed? Would you like to be able to predict trends in healthcare, or to optimise care processes for the patient? If so, this Master’s in Health Sciences (HS) at the University of Twente (UT) may be the perfect choice for you.

Optimisation of Healthcare Processes

Innovation in Public Health

This one-year, English-taught Master's educates health scientists who are able to design solutions to the challenges presented by modern healthcare. You will learn how to convert the results of fundamental and applied clinical research into modern customised healthcare solutions. To this end, you will be using new medical and information technologies including virtual reality, augmented reality, embodied monitoring, and pervasive and unobtrusive systems.

With a Master of Science degree in Health Sciences, you will be ideally suited to tackle challenges at the highest level in all areas of healthcare. You will be well qualified to take on management or other senior posts at healthcare institutions, such as hospitals, nursing homes and residential care facilities. However, you might  as easily take up a position at a municipal or regional health authority (‘GGD’ in Dutch). Alternatively, you could become a policy-maker or policy advisor at a local authority. You might also opt for a career in research, or take up a position at a government or semi-governmental agency, such as the Netherlands National Institute for Public Health and the Environment or the Healthcare Insurance Board.

The possibilities do not end there. How about a job in education, at a university or a research institute? You could also pursue a career in the services sector, in industry, at an organization consultancy or with a health insurance provider.
