Do you want to understand how global markets work and contribute to a better society? This programme develops your ability to analyse socio-economic problems and understand the dynamics of the fast-moving global economy.

International Economics is the programme for you if you are looking for a broad-based degree in economics. During the programme, you will develop your ability to understand and analyse different types of socio-economic problems and how they relate to the global economy. Using economic theory, you will learn how to systematically analyse and evaluate economic processes, identify underlying factors and drive real change.

The main focus of the programme is economics, but you will also gain a good grounding in statistics and econometrics. You will also take four courses in business administration, including leadership and accounting. All are designed to give you a broad and solid foundation providing many career opportunities after graduation.

The programme has an international flavour and you will work with students from all over the world and from different cultures. You will also have the opportunity to study abroad for an exchange semester.

The combination of economics, statistics and analysis will allow you to work in a wide range of industries in both the private and public sectors. Examples of future roles include business developer, market analyst or investment analyst.

Internship

In this programme you have the possibility to do a 10-week internship during your elective semester if you don’t choose to study abroad at one of our partner universities. This internship can be done anywhere in the world and is a great opportunity to see how you can apply economic theories and tools to real-life problems.

Other requirements
  • specific demand on mathematics, civic/social studies, and English proficiency
  • The number of places is limited and a selection is made based on high-school diploma grades and letter of motivation

After graduation you can work with economic issues in areas such as environmental management, health, finance, regional development, and business development. There are also possibilities to work with these issues within international organisations such as the EU, the UN, or the OECD. Work tasks might include data collection, market analyses, managing financial assets, or working on economic or strategic issues.

After graduation you will also be eligible for the master programme Applied Economics and Data Analysis at JIBS, as well as many other master programmes in economics all over the world.
