Computer Graphic Arts
This is your chance to explore the expansive world of digital art! Do you want to make charming or terrifying characters with cool designs, captivating digital environments or intricate props for films and games?
Introduction to design and 3D
The first year of the CGA programme is designed to teach you the fundamentals on your journey of becoming a digital artist: Design, concept art, and film and animation history as well as working in 3D.
In the thorough introduction, you will make your way through most of the 3D workflow with focus on modelling characters and environments.
Throughout the year, you will work on your own projects but will also grow your collaborative, communication and problem-solving skills on a 2D group project with Character Animation students.
Creature- and 2nd year project
In the second year, you will broaden your 3D skillset and software knowledge. Here, focus is on texturing, shading and compositing.
In the creature project you will create a digital creature, from initial concept to finished product in 3D and finally integrating it in a live-action background.
Learning to rig a 3D character is also a part of the second year. That will become useful when you again collaborate with the CA students on the 2nd Year Project. Here you will experience working with a client, working in a team and go through the full 3D pipeline.
2nd year also includes an introduction course to real-time engines.
Bachelor production and portfolio
3rd year is a specialisation year and a place for preparing portfolio and showreel for your internship applications while preparing for your future career.
It is also the year where you make a cross-professional project with bachelor students from other programmes. As well as your final production in what we call the 6th semester project, which is again a collaboration between CG and CA.
During the specialisation time, you will have a chance to dive deeper into a specific area, or explore uncharted land to specialise within areas of your interest.
Internship and bachelor report
During the 7th semester you will do a 10-week internship with a production studio. Former students have been interning at Cartoon Saloon, Nørlum, Aardmann, Sun Creature, and Illumination, among others.
The semester ends with you handing in your bachelor report, analysing your career plans based on your final production and internship.
