A Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering will teach you how to develop software that suits the organisations and the people who need it. You will reach out to the user, research their needs and from this get good ideas that make you capable of developing the best software solution.

With a degree in Software Engineering, you will gain the skills to develop the software solutions of the future. You will be able to lead the development and implementation of software, cooperate across professional groups and cultures, solve tasks in an international context and advise on investing in new software solutions and much more.

  • learn to investigate the need for the software, to describe and analyse the requirements and to design, programme and test the software.

Existing programming skills are not required

The programme includes an introductory course in programming. At the start of the programme, it is assumed that many new students have no prior in-depth experience with programming.

How is the programme structured?

The education consists of a combination of theoretical courses and practical project work. Each semester is based on a main theme which becomes the basis for the semester's theory and project work.

  • In the first semester, the focus is on software programming.
  • The second semester is all about developing software systems.
  • The third semester focuses on distributed interactive software systems.
  • In the fourth semester, the focus is on intelligent component-based software systems.
  • The fifth semester is about cyber-security and mobile software systems. You can also study this semester abroad.
  • In the sixth semester, you will learn about project collaboration, and you will write your bachelor project based on all your knowledge from the previous semesters.
Entry qualification
  • Transcript of Records – If you have not yet completed Secondary School, you must upload a transcript showing your current grades. You can find the transcript template here.
  • Secondary School Leaving Certificate – If you have already completed Secondary School, you do not need to upload a separate transcript. Simply upload your Secondary School Leaving Certificate to the application.

UniTest – SDU requires applicants to pass an entrance test in order to successfully complete the application process. The test takes place online in March/April (the university will provide information about registration in advance). The test assesses reading comprehension and logical thinking skills.

 

Note: 

  • Engineering programmes require a high level of mathematics knowledge. If the university considers your grades too low, you may be asked to complete a special online course.
  • A motivation letter is not a required document when applying to the programmes at this university.

 

English language requirements

You may not need to take IELTS or TOEFL. University usually allow you to prove your English proficiency in one of the following ways:

  • English Language Hours – The total number of English language hours completed in Grades 10, 11 and 12 should be at least 210 hours (1 hour = 60 minutes), and the English grade should be at least 5 on a 10-point grading scale.
  • TOEFL iBT*
  • IELTS Academic
  • A Cambridge English qualification
  • A national English examination listed on your secondary school leaving certificate
  • An English subject and grade on your secondary school leaving certificate that meet the university’s requirements
  • Secondary education completed in English in a country or school qualification accepted by the university
  • An International Baccalaureate (IB) or European Baccalaureate (EB) diploma
  • Other
