Finding the right path in Denmark
My decision to study in Denmark came after a long and confusing journey between dreams and reality. For a long time, I wanted to study Lithuanian language and literature, but after starting university in Lithuania, I quickly realised that neither the programme nor the environment matched my expectations.
I decided to leave everything behind and move to Denmark. After spending just a few weeks here, I had one clear thought: now or never.
The application process taught me a lot about myself
At the beginning of the admission process, I was extremely confident. However, I soon realised that standing out as an applicant is much more difficult than it seems.
I spent a lot of time reflecting on who I was, what made me different and whether I was truly ready to study in a completely new and international environment. It was challenging, frustrating and sometimes overwhelming.
At first, my application was rejected, which definitely brought me back down to earth. But I did not give up. Later, I received an acceptance letter, and today I am happily studying in Denmark.

Living in Denmark before starting university made all the difference
If I could give one piece of advice to Secondary School graduates, it would be this: don't rush into choosing a study programme.
If possible, spend some time living in the country first. Visit universities, ask if you can attend a lecture, experience the culture and everyday life, and see whether you truly feel at home there.
That one year I spent living in Denmark before starting university has made a huge difference. Now I can fully enjoy my studies because I already know how everything works. I no longer have to worry about finding accommodation, adapting to the culture, speaking English or balancing everyday life.

A completely different way of learning
One of the things I love most about studying in Denmark is the relationship between lecturers and students. Here, teachers and students treat each other as equals. There is a high level of trust, open communication and mutual respect.
Classes are built around teamwork, discussions and collaboration because, as they often say, two heads are better than one.
This approach has completely changed the way I see education. It is inspiring, motivating and focused on developing real skills instead of simply memorising information.
Sometimes I even catch myself wishing that one day Lithuania would adopt more of these ideas into its own education system.
Looking back, choosing Denmark was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Sometimes taking a step back and giving yourself more time is exactly what helps you move forward.
