The summer before my final year of Secondary School, I started seriously thinking about where I wanted to study and what kind of future I wanted to build.
I bought a university guide and spent hours looking through different programmes, trying to find something that truly interested me and could lead to a career I would enjoy. Unfortunately, nothing felt right. That uncertainty pushed me to look beyond my home country and explore study opportunities abroad.
At first, I became interested in the UK. While searching online for more information, I discovered the Kastu International website. I found everything I needed in one place, including university information, application guidance, student stories, and discussions where current and future students shared their experiences.
That was when Denmark caught my attention.
Tuition-free education, a strong study system, and a completely different attitude towards students made the country stand out. I read many student stories and contacted people who were already studying there. They were open, friendly, and happy to answer my questions.
The more I learned, the more certain I became. Denmark gradually turned from an option into the place where I truly wanted to study.
The question every future student asks is whether getting accepted is easy. Many people told me that it would be simple, but in my experience, the process required real effort.
The most important part was preparing a strong motivation letter and collecting recommendation letters from my teachers. I also attended IELTS preparation courses and took the English language exam. Choosing the right universities and programmes required careful thought, because I wanted to be sure I was applying somewhere that genuinely matched my goals.
Once all the documents were submitted, the waiting began. I kept wondering whether everything was correct and whether I would be accepted.
But when you want something deeply enough, you find the strength to keep going.
After a long wait, I received the news that I had been conditionally accepted to Roskilde Business College. The final step was an interview with a college representative.
I was extremely nervous because studying in Denmark was my only plan. I had not even prepared an alternative option at home. Fortunately, the interview went well, and during the conversation I found out that I had been officially accepted into both the college and the programme I wanted.
I still remember that day as one of the happiest moments of my life.
Suddenly, all the effort, preparation, and uncertainty made sense. A future that had once felt distant became real.
My first months of studying in Denmark did not disappoint me. At the beginning, everything felt unfamiliar, almost like a dream I was afraid to wake up from.
The lecturers were experienced, supportive, and knew how to work with international students. They communicated openly and created an environment where asking questions and sharing ideas felt natural.
The greatest value, however, was the international community. Studying with people from completely different countries and backgrounds changes the way you see the world. You learn not only from lectures, but also from every conversation, group project, and new friendship.
Choosing to study abroad gave me much more than a place at a university. It gave me confidence, independence, and the feeling that my future could be much bigger than I had once imagined.
My advice to future students is simple: think carefully about whether studying abroad is what you truly want. But once you know the answer is yes, commit to your goal and do everything you can to reach it.
The process may require effort, patience, and courage, but the moment you realise that your dream has become your real life makes it all worthwhile.
