Will you be developing the latest, most efficient electronic vehicle to meet people's sustainable mobility needs? Will you be helping along the energy transition with your smart solutions to let systems communicate with each other? Or will your innovation lead to a revolution in health care? The Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme's Electronics major lays the foundations for modern technological innovations that will make the world a better, smarter and more beautiful place.

What will you be studying?

During your studies, you will follow two semesters per year. Within these semesters, various themes are covered. These themes will give you the right tools to successfully carry out projects and practical issues.

Electronics is one of the majors for the Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme. During your degree programme, you will develop a full range of knowledge and competences in the field of electrical and electronic engineering. Subjects will include robotics, programming, control engineering and data communication. You will start working on assignments for real-world clients from the professional field straight away and have lots of choice when it comes to studying the modules you want.

Why study the Energy & Power Electronics major at Hanze UAS?
  • Programme developed jointly with the business community: you do challenging, practical assignments at, for example, the Energy Academy Europe or at ENTRANCE, Hanze's Centre of Expertise in the energy transition. You work with real companies in a real working environment. So you gain work experience during your studies and help companies become more effective, innovative and sustainable.
  • Passionate, driven groups: the degree programme is small-scale and personal: you work in small, motivated groups. The teachers know you and there is plenty of room for one-on-one contact. You also have a mentor who plays an important role in your personal and professional development. We also have a really fun study association where you are very welcome.
  • Great job prospects: Upon completing your studies you can work for a wide variety of companies. As a control specialist, industrial automation engineer, mechatronics design engineer or service engineer. Your can do this at many companies from pure product development agencies to multinationals where mechatronics are central, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Many of our students go on to work in sectors such as healthcare, (sustainable) energy or transportation. The chance of finding a job is very high, because the world is eager for well-trained mechatronics specialists.

After the Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering you will be awarded a Bachelor of Science degree and you will be able to work for companies and (research) institutions. 89% of graduates find their first job within a year. A large part of the alumni stays employed in the region, a small part is working abroad. Examples of positions are:

  • Research and Development Engineer
