Are you interested in innovation and how to improve processes? The varied, practical and challenging study programme Industrial Engineering and Management is your best preparation for a managing job at a technical company. As an industrial engineer, you’ll learn how to take an analytical and solution-oriented approach to (improvements in) business processes and organisational changes.

About the programme

Together with lecturers, fellow students and company managers, you discover what you need to know to develop a deep understanding of the people, organisation, technical know-how and economic principles on which companies depend. You’ll gain experience through working on projects at real companies. From the very first moment of your student career, you start building your CV with relevant practice. And unlike many other industrial engineering programmes, we offer not only theoretical insight but also practical skills to be successful as an entrepreneur. After 4 years, you’ll be ready to help and progress companies anywhere in the world!

What will you learn?

We offer you not only theoretical knowhow (see chapter ‘Courses’) but also practical skills to be successful. Together with your lecturers, peers and managers of external companies, you discover what you need to know and how you will be able to gain a deep understanding of your talents. Other than field specific aspects we will teach you practical 21st century skills that are important in an industrial engineering career. Such as:

Entry qualification
  • Transcript of Records – If you have not yet completed Secondary School, you must upload a transcript showing your current grades. You can find the transcript template here.
  • Secondary School Leaving Certificate – If you have already completed Secondary School, you do not need to upload a separate transcript. Simply upload your Secondary School Leaving Certificate to the application.

English language requirements

You may not need to take IELTS or TOEFL. University usually allow you to prove your English proficiency in one of the following ways:

  • TOEFL iBT*
  • IELTS Academic
  • A Cambridge English qualification
  • A national English examination listed on your secondary school leaving certificate
  • An English subject and grade on your secondary school leaving certificate that meet the university’s requirements
  • Secondary education completed in English in a country or school qualification accepted by the university

Professional possibilities after graduation:


This programme leads to the international Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree. Our students are trained to become all-round experts in business engineering. With the knowledge and skills obtained at Fontys University students are likely to find work as managers or consultants in large and medium sized production companies, but our graduates may also be found in the service industry, or working for local authorities. Alternatively, there is the possibility to do a master or MBA and some students might take the step to start an own company.
