Data Science (Joint bachelor)
Data Science is about creating value from data. Learn to analyze the large amounts of data that today’s society operates on. Discover trends and patterns that are relevant for businesses, government agencies, or nonprofit organizations. In addition to technical aspects, the program also covers the legal, social, ethical and business sides of Data science. This multidisciplinary approach makes the program unique. Data Science is offered jointly by Tilburg University and Eindhoven University of Technology.
This joint Bachelor's program brings together the best of two universities; Tilburg University's expertise in Econometrics, Business Administration and Law is combined with Eindhoven University of Technology's expertise in Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering. Both universities add their expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Statistics. You will be taking courses at both universities.
- In the first year, you are introduced to the various Data Science core fields, like computer science and data analytics. You develop a mathematical base which you will build on during the rest of your studies. You will also learn more about the main application domains and the broader social and economic setting of data science developments. You will explore the important area of law and ethics to become a responsible data scientist.
- In the second year, you study the legal, mathematical, statistical, technical and business aspects of data research more in-depth. You determine part of your program yourself by selecting elective modules, which allows you to tailor your own program.
- Entrepreneurship plays a greater role in the third year, which features courses such as Business Insights and Networks. In the third year, you will complete the last of the four Data Challenges, during which you will work in a group on a socially relevant project with real stakeholders. You will complete the Bachelor's program with a Bachelor's thesis.

The team work varies from team projects to the joint writing of a research paper. You will learn how to apply theory into practice, for example in the Data Challenges and the Data-Driven Business Creation course.

- Transcript of Records – If you have not yet completed Secondary School, you must upload a transcript showing your current grades. You can find the transcript template here.
- Secondary School Leaving Certificate – If you have already completed Secondary School, you do not need to upload a separate transcript. Simply upload your Secondary School Leaving Certificate to the application.
An additional document, Statement of Education, may be required depending on the programme you apply for at this university.

What can you do with a Data Science degree?
- A data scientist structures big data with special tools and software. You'll write algorithms to unlock, structure and analyze data. With these analyses, you try to recognize patterns in big data and create prediction models that provide insights for a company or organization.
- A data engineer, designs systems to collect, organize, and make accessible large and complex data sets so that others can use the data effectively. For example, you will ensure that data from different databases can be linked together in a logical way.
- A data analyst transforms data into information. You will develop data models, compile reports and provide advice to the management of a company or organization. You will support them in making decisions, optimizing processes and defining strategy.
