Career opportunities

The vast majority of data generated every day is image data, which is why image data analysis is one of the most important focus areas for modern Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. The field is evolving at such a rapid pace that the demand for image data science professionals is extremely high. In the future, any visual inspection task may be automated. It is therefore important that a new generation of applied researchers and engineers is ready to take advantage of the countless possibilities offered by modern data science.

Core tasks of an image data professional are:

  • Designing, developing and testing machine learning algorithms for automating visual inspections.

  • Creating, balancing and maintaining annotated datasets, in collaboration with domain experts.

  • Optimising and scaling the developed algorithms.

  • Carrying out methodologically correct research.

  • Keeping abreast of relevant and current trends and developments in the field.

The programme covers various topics such as machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, mathematics, programming and many more. As a student, you will learn to acquire the knowledge and skills to successfully find a solution to real-life problems. You will be supported by the experts of the professorship Computer Vision & Data Science who have been working in this field for many years.

Entry qualification
  • ECTS transcript – If you are still completing your Bachelor’s degree, upload an ECTS transcript showing the subjects you have studied, your grades, and the number of credits awarded. Your Bachelor’s diploma must be uploaded later, as soon as you receive it.
  • Bachelor’s diploma – If you have already graduated, upload your Bachelor’s diploma. A separate ECTS transcript is not required.

Note: Your Bachelor’s degree must be in the same or a related field as the Master’s programme you are applying for. The university will check whether you have completed enough relevant subjects and ECTS credits.

Important! View the full requirements on the university’s official website. Requirements may vary depending where you completed your bachelor education.

Important requirements

Academic Requirements

  • a bachelor's degree;

  • demonstrable solid programming skills;

  • mathematical knowledge and skills required to understand the principles of computer vision and data science;

  • English language proficiency to communicate technical work adequately;

  • adequate motivation as evidenced by motivation letter and admission interview.

After completing the master's programme, you may add MSc to your name. A degree that will also make you an international presence.

After successfully completing the Computer Vision & Data Science master's programme, you will have developed into an image data science professional. You will be able to design deep learning architectures for big image data analysis and then implement these (enabling technology) in a wide range of domains/sectors.

As graduate master's professional you can, amongst others, fill the following positions (at small companies to multinationals):

  • Data Science Specialist

  • Computer Vision Engineer

  • Deep Learning Engineer

  • Artificial Intelligence Engineer

  • Visual Image Specialist

With this master's degree you will be well prepared for the international field.
