International Facility Management

You will work on challenging projects and have the opportunity to gain international experience. In this programme, you will learn all about the ever-innovative facilities sector.
We spend a large part of our lives in public areas. Think of shopping centers, schools and the companies we work for. A facility manager ensures that the facilities in these spaces meet all requirements so customers feel comfortable and employees productive. As a facility manager you are an inspiring leader and a sparring partner on a strategic level.
In four years, you will learn how to develop to an all-round Facility Manager. Where will you find your dream job? Think big, think anywhere, because our students work all over the world. But first things first. You do need to develop, in order to get there. We will help you learn the things you need to know, improve your skills and offer you training on-the-job. With our programme, we will provide you with all you need to get your future job!
You will benefit from the intensive 3-year programme in two respects: you gain one year in time, and save one year of tuition fees.
after vwo (pre-university): You will start in year 2 and also receive basic knowledge and skills from year 1.
after propaedeutic year (economic programme): You will start in year 2 and also receive basic knowledge and skills from year 1.
The differences between the 3- and 4-year programme can mainly be found in your first year of study. The 3-year programme starts with modules from the second year of the regular programme. To ensure that basic knowledge of the first year is covered, some additional classes are scheduled and relevant study material is made available to you. Furthermore you will be shortly introduced to the facility industry with practical components in the in-house training company Sibelicious.
For both the regular 4-year programme and the special 3-year programme a minimum of 60 EC’s need to be completed during the first year of study. Changing from one track to the other during the course of study is not possible.
- Transcript of Records – If you have not yet completed Secondary School, you must upload a transcript showing your current grades. You can find the transcript template here.
- Secondary School Leaving Certificate – If you have already completed Secondary School, you do not need to upload a separate transcript. Simply upload your Secondary School Leaving Certificate to the application.
Depending on the programme, the following may be required as part of the application process:
- CV/Resume in English
- Motivation Letter in English
- Online Intake Assignment – a recruitment task to be completed after submitting your application
- Online Interview – an interview with a university representative to discuss your motivation and suitability for the programme (after submitting your application)

You may not need to take IELTS or TOEFL. University usually allow you to prove your English proficiency in one of the following ways:
- TOEFL iBT*
- IELTS Academic
- A Cambridge English qualification
- A national English examination listed on your secondary school leaving certificate
- An English subject and grade on your secondary school leaving certificate that meet the university’s requirements
- Secondary education completed in English in a country or school qualification accepted by the university
- An International Baccalaureate (IB) or European Baccalaureate (EB) diploma
- Other

Get a job
As a facility manager you organise and manage the supporting department of an organisation. You direct the facility department and you are responsible for the possible outsourcing of work (for example catering services). The facility manager holds a key position in the organisation and in an innovatory manner he takes care that all facilities are in order.

Today’s facility manager is transforming more and more into a strategic advisor to corporate management; he/she monitors the beating heart of an organisation. Our graduates work across the entire spectrum of the facility management industry at, for instance:

After graduating you often start your career in an assistant position and over time, you work your way up to (senior) management positions in the facility branch.
British Institute of Facilities Management
The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) has recognised Breda University of Applied Sciences as a BIFM centre, the first one in mainland Europe. Upon completion of your studies, you will have the opportunity of becoming a BIFM member and receive the Level 5 diploma in Facilities Management. This diploma will make you stand out further in the international employment market.
