Become a sustainable technology pioneer who develops and implements novel, sustainable energy technologies and transitions that are needed in tomorrow’s world.

With an ever-growing global population and the energy demands of industries and consumers rising higher than ever before in history, we are rapidly depleting earth’s non-renewable energy resources (oil, gas and coal), and moving to a problematic change of climate. This rising problem and the accompanying challenges we are facing worldwide have raised the demand for skilled engineers to successfully develop and implement sustainable energy technologies. Do you feel called upon to make a valuable contribution to the sustainable energy transition? If so, the Master’s in Sustainable Energy Technology at the University of Twente (UT) is the right choice for you.

In this two-year, English-taught Master’s, you will gain in-depth expertise within the field of energy technology, while supplementing it with the broader knowledge and skills needed to achieve real change in our societies’ energy systems. In this engineering programme, you will develop skills in the field of energy generation, distribution, and storage. This will help you to become a real energy system integrator, able to implement renewable energy technologies in current or new energy networks. You will be able to use your understanding of technology and engineering as an enabler, leader and game-changer in the transition towards sustainable energy systems.

In the first year, you will follow courses related to these topics, aimed at you gaining a broad foundation in the field of sustainable energy technology. These courses are divided into four themes:

  • Energy sources
  • Technology and sustainability
  • Socio-economics
  • Design and system integration
