This is a double degree programme developed in cooperation with Hebei University of Technology (HEBUT) in China.

Students admitted to this bachelor's programme will receive a degree certificate from two universities after they have fulfilled the degree requirements of both universities. You will complete the entire degree in Lahti, Finland.

Why study energy technology?

There are roughly three scenarios for the development of future energy solutions: renewable energy sources (hydro, solar, wind, wave and bioenergy), safe nuclear power, and carbon capture and use. These represent the core of energy engineering. By studying energy technology, you will build a career in pioneering technologies.

This programme focuses on the most efficient, environmentally friendly production and distribution of a basic element in our daily well-being: energy and its related technologies.

The Bachelor's Programme in Energy Technology is suitable for those interested in technology who want to utilise mathematics and natural sciences as tools.

How will you learn in the programme?

Most of your studies take place on campus during weekdays. Occasional online courses, as well as courses combining online and on-campus teaching, provide variety and flexibility to your study methods and schedule.

Your studies include

  • theoretical lectures
  • exercise sessions
  • company visits
  • projects
  • individual and group assignments
  • extensive laboratory work

Why a double degree?

This double degree programme prepares you for the international labour market. In today’s globalised world, getting degrees from two universities and mastering the basics of the Chinese language adds extra value to your future career and helps you stand out from other job applicants.

As the official language of the world’s second-largest economy, Chinese is particularly valuable in business, allowing for more effective communication and fostering deeper connections in professional contexts.

Note: If you choose the double degree, you will be required to study Chinese as part of your double degree program. Students must also pass a language test during their studies at LUT in order to receive a degree from Hebei University of Technology.
