Applied Mathematics / Data Science
Applied Mathematics = Shaping the world with numbers and code.
Applied Mathematics/Data Science is a 4-year bachelor programme that develops and trains your skills in mathematics and programming and teaches you to apply them to real-world situations as early as Year 1. Structured to provide you with as many opportunities as possible, by the end of Year 2 you will be well-rounded enough to confidently pursue any specialisation that takes your fancy.
You will explore the field of Data Science and other related career paths through individual and team projects, and work on the soft skills you want to gain as a working professional. Read on to find out more!
Applied Mathematics / Data Science offers you an international and interactive environment full of like-minded individuals from all over the world. Meaning: you will work often as a team and pick up new perspectives from different cultures, flavours and ways of thinking. It can be scary to start on a new adventure alone, so we made certain no one has to be. You will present ideas and do projects together, learn directly from field professionals, and get a lot of personal attention as well as personal space. You’ll also receive plenty of chances to come up with and realise your own creative ideas.

- 95% of our students have jobs specific to this course 1,5 years after graduation.
- We are a small-scale, international community. Over half our students come from abroad, staff know all the students by name and second-year students are always ready to help out first-years.
- This course covers all of the many aspects of Applied Mathematics, but focuses in particular on the thriving field of Data Science. You get a unique combination of two fully developed, data-driven skill sets: Mathematics and Information Technology.
- The curriculum covers both in equal measure, to ensure you have a wide variety of specialisations and follow-up courses to choose from.
- Theory is key to building a solid education, but a lot of our projects involve real-life clients and companies too. Get live experience and start your network early on!
- Data Science as a whole can be your chosen field of specialisation, or you can pick a more concrete field within it such as AI or Machine Learning. You could even go for App Development and more.
- Mix and match your many new skills around an ideal career in tech, business, media, music, gaming, the list goes on. It’s up to you!

- Transcript of Records – If you have not yet completed Secondary School, you must upload a transcript showing your current grades. You can find the transcript template here.
- Secondary School Leaving Certificate – If you have already completed Secondary School, you do not need to upload a separate transcript. Simply upload your Secondary School Leaving Certificate to the application.
Note: All programmes ask you to complete an online questionnaire prior to a meeting via Skype. For a number of programmes, you also have to do a homework assignment in addition to the online questionnaire.

You may not need to take IELTS or TOEFL. University usually allow you to prove your English proficiency in one of the following ways:

- A Cambridge English qualification
- A national English examination listed on your secondary school leaving certificate
- An English subject and grade on your secondary school leaving certificate that meet the university’s requirements
- Secondary education completed in English in a country or school qualification accepted by the university
- An International Baccalaureate (IB) or European Baccalaureate (EB) diploma
- Other
